Marinis is an Assistant Professor teaching primarily communication and Dragon Education Core courses. She also serves as the Cultural Immersion Coordinator, organizing the semester study abroad student experience, short-term cultural immersion trips abroad, as well as local and domestic cultural programming. She found her passion for higher education through her own challenges and experiences as a college student. After her first year of college, she found herself fully enjoying the college experience as a varsity cheerleader and member of a sorority, but was a bit lost in regards to her academic plans. Her involvement and interactions with faculty and staff while a student led her to pursue a fulfilling career in higher education where she finds great joy helping students navigate and balance their own college experience.
Since 2005, Jamie has called Tiffin University home. During her time, she has held a variety of positions across campus in admissions, advising, athletics, student success, first-year experience, international student programming, and most recently as a full-time faculty member. Through these various roles, she has kept one definitive goal in mind: helping students achieve their dreams and find their passion. In doing this, Marinis proudly celebrates her own cultural uniqueness and makes it a priority to help others understand, respect and celebrate their uniqueness while learning to work effectively with people who are different themselves.
Originally from Oregon, Ohio, Jamie now resides in Tiffin with her spouse and two children, Karris and Niko. She is actively involved in the local community, serves as the Assistant Varsity Cheer Coach at Calvert High School and enjoys traveling with family and friends in her free time.
